GLAMOUR PHOTOGRAFY

For years we have sold pasties at our boutique, and for years we have had customers ask how you put them on...and now there's a simple answer: Bristols Six Nippies Gold!  Nippies Gold are adhesive, reusable pasties that apply within seconds; all you do is take them out of their cute little storage box and pop them on your breasts!  No more glue, no more double-sided tape (unless you've worn them over 20-30 times and they need a little adhesive boost).   Easy application aside, these pasties are dazzling, glamorous, and show-stopping.  Who doesn't enjoy a little tassel twirl every now and then?  Each style is named after an icon in the burlesque/pin-up world: Dita (von Teese), Blaze (Starr), Marilyn (Monroe), Gypsy Rose (Lee), and Josephine (Baker).  There's even the cute pink powder puff style called Candy!  If you've never worn pasties before, a good way to start is by pairing them with a 1/4-cup bra, an open-cup bra or even some bustiers (Dita von Teese makes an amazing example of how it should look)....or you can simply wear on their own!

Once again, our readers impress us...last week's Guess the Designer was in fact Mint Siren! We honestly didn't expect too many people to know based on the pictures we posted.
This UK-based burlesque lingerie label is certainly intimate apparel that requires a performance...whether on stage or for an audience of one! We love the exaggerated bows and accessories - who wouldn't?!

We had so much fun with last week's Guess the Designer, we thought we would do it again! This one might be a bit tricky because it's a boutique brand that is heavily worn by those in the burlesque world. Nonetheless, it is a brand we carry at Faire Frou Frou and have posted on before (a long time ago!). Have fun guessing (no cheating ie; no right clicking on the picture)!

We dress quite a few burlesque performers, which is so much fun, because anything goes! From Swarovski crystal pasties (which have sold out of at $200 a pair!) to Fifi Chachnil angora cardigans, we try and keep a little something in store for ladies who do pin-up photography and burlesque performances (a la Dita von Teese).
We recently discovered a fun book called Velvet Hammer Burlesque, which was just featured on the From Betsy With Love blog. This book is great eye-candy for those of you looking for inspiration for performances, or for ladies like ourselves who just love ostrich feather fans and marabou slippers! Granted, we aren't entirely into all aspects of burlesque, but we totally appreciate the art!

Just this week we received an amazingly fun collection from British lingerie label Mint Siren. Mint Siren is a burlesque-inspired brand that is all about girly details, and is both extremely feminine and perhaps a bit edgy. It can best be described as Fifi Chachnil meets Dita von Teese style.
Faire Frou Frou is the FIRST and ONLY BOUTIQUE IN THE USA to represent this brand (we know other boutiques will snatch it up too after reading this!)!!! What an honor to introduce the states to this amazing label.
Mint Siren is the creation of designer Josefine Wing (a bit of a burlesque gal herself). Her philosophy is to create flattering, sensual clothing with a retro flavor for the modern woman. Her brand is described as being "lavish and provocative; designed for ladies with a passion for extravagance. It's about having fun with your femininity".
