GLAMOUR PHOTOGRAFY

We just received our Fall shipment of Gerbe Paris hosiery!  We are so excited!  Gerbe is a luxury hosiery brand that has been made in France since 1904; we will venture to say that they really know their stuff!  This marks the addition of yet another line of luxury stockings carried at Faire Frou Frou (we currently carry Cervin, and have previously carried Falke and Wolford).
Stockings have been particularly popular at our boutique this past year, probably because more people are realizing what an amazing accessory it is.  We will unveil our full Gerbe stockings collection online in just a few days (though it's currently at our Studio City boutique)!

We love when we see a piece of lingerie we carry at Faire Frou Frou in a major fashion magazine, as is the case with the Lascivious "Milla" bra (seen in the first image).  Of course there are some sexy Falke thigh highs & stockings happening here too, which are pretty fabulous.
Is it us, or are we seeing quite a bit of S&M styled shoots these days?  We're definitely seeing its influence in the world of lingerie design, and we're liking it!

Thanks to Catherine, the designer for the UK lingerie label Kiss Me Deadly, we discovered these gorgeous photographs from Grazia magazine.  Kiss Me Deadly (whose Candybox Knickers are shown in the 4th pic from the top) happens to be featured among some of fashion's top designers, including Carine Gilson, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel & Prada in this spread by Nelson Simoneau entitled "Sex and Vintage".  As you can see, there's a definite vintage vibe to each image with a hint of lingerie here and there...whether it's a bit of a bra showing or a pretty pair of stockings or thigh highs.  We are really impressed by the beauty of the hosiery, which happens to be provided by an Italian label called Transparenze - those lilac thigh highs are so beautiful!  Once again we are so pleased to see hosiery as a featured trend this season, much more so than previous years (since it inevitably becomes more popular as the weather gets cooler).

With editorials like this cropping up, it's no wonder we've been selling so many stockings lately! 
The lingerie-as-outerwear trend reached new heights this Summer, and perhaps the easiest way for those of us who aren't in the pages of a magazine to wear that look is with hosiery.  Maybe you won't go outside your house wearing a sheer dress showing off the fabulous bra/panty underneath, but you certainly can wear a gorgeous garter belt and show that suggestive little detail of the garter strap clasped to the stocking.  These pictures essentially show the variety of stockings and thigh highs that are hottest right now (at Faire Frou Frou)...vintage or retro-inspired stockings both with/without the backseam and thigh highs with a plain band.  We aren't seeing as much of the thigh high with the lace band in editorials these days, nor are we selling as much of that style as we used to.
One style we are particularly excited about is the dotted/backseam stocking below...they will be available at our store in about a week (if you notice the model's manicure, that's a trend that's long behind us!). 

We kind of wish we could go out like this!

We love when stockings become the focal point of a fashion editorial...it just shows what a strong accessory they can be!  The beautiful Laetitia Casta showcases her long legs in classic, retro-styled stockings.  This style has been such a hit with our customers; we scarcely go a day without selling hosiery.  In fact, we just placed a re-order with Cervin because there has been an overwhelming demand for back-seam stockings.  Our customers are calling it the "Mad Men" effect...could that really be it? 
In addition to the stockings, Casta is also wearing lingerie from Agent Provocateur, La Perla and a few vintage pieces (anything else we can't tell as we don't read Russian!).   The leopard accessories are also pretty spectacular...it works well with the retro theme. 
Expect to see some new stockings from Cervin on our website in about 2 weeks!

This photo is just exquisite, particularly due to those fabulous stockings! We think the pattern might be scattered stars (we hope that's what it is)...or maybe just little dots? We wish we had more information about this image, but unfortunately we forgot where we found it (though at the very least we noted it was from Sang Bleu magazine).

We've never posted about socks before, despite the fact that they fall into the hosiery (and therefore lingerie) category, but after seeing these images from Vogue China we felt the time has come! Look how beautiful the hosiery is in each picture. It adds just the right amount of texture and it's a layer that simply completes the ensemble. The lilac striped stockings are our favorite....it's sexy yet works incredibly well for a daytime look.
You really need the right style & attitude to pull off this look...just imaging ourselves in knee socks and high heels simply conjures a comical vision. But for those leggy Natalia Vodianova types, it is quite a fashion statement.
In most, if not all of the images, Vodianova is wearing socks/hosiery by Italian accessories designer Maria La Rosa.

Now that Fall is here, and October has begun, it's seriously time to start thinking about what stockings you will be wearing. After seeing these darling pictures by Phil Poynter, we want to wear nothing but stockings with every outfit! The shoes, the colors, the textures...breathtaking, and so ladylike!

We had to share this Vogue Germany editorial featuring Anja Rubik because lingerie seems to make a cameo appearance in each shot. For every great outfit she is wearing, there's even better lingerie underneath. Of course some of the world's top lingerie brands make an appearance in these pictures: Carine Gilson, Myla, La Perla Black Label and Roberto Cavalli (we can't quite make out the other credits). We also love how stockings play an important role in most of the images, particularly the cover! In fact, the cover look reminds us of our new Fifi Chachnil Fall shipment that's on its way in...lots of sexy body-shaper styles (but more on that when we have the new items posted on our website).

The one common denominator in all of these photos is the standout stockings and hosiery. Photographer Katja Mayer has captured several models wearing decorative thigh highs, perhaps while each was practicing their stretches! Our favorite is the purple pair in the first picture, and of course we always love the vintage-looking seamed stockings. What's interesting is that stockings are such a simple item that make such a dramatic impact, particularly when it comes to fashion photography.
