I first became interested in David Collins' work after visiting one of the hotels and restaurants he designed and was immediately taken with every glamorous detail. Founded in 1985, David Collins Studio includes architects, interior, graphic and furniture designers in offices on three continents. The style is immediately identifiable by its sleek, sophisticated urban glamour, stunning lighting, high-gloss satins, and rich leather. The Irish-born architect has helped to create some of the coolest places to be seen in London, including The Wolseley restaurant, and is now taking on Manhattan and LA . . .
David Collins has also won GQ's Man of the Year Award:

I've mentioned before that I love the eclectic, well-travelled look that develops over time with new journeys and adventures and growing collections of souvenirs and artifacts from far-off places. It's a look that brings out one's personality in the form of things collected, and has been labelled globe-trotting chic. {I always find it somewhat humorous when things that are a given officially become a style.}
By far my favourite incorporation of this design aesthetic are these 1920's Japanese silk panels, found in Paris' Clignancourt markets, in this Parisian apartment (above).
The style has also made its way into public spaces, including Ivanka Trump's Madison Avenue boutique (above, from an earlier post), and David Collins' fantastic "Victoriana meets the Far East" work at The Artesian Bar at the The Langham Hotel in London (below).
Global chic was also a recurring theme on the runways, as seen here in Jean Paul Gaultier's spicy Spring styles.

Another favourite is this traditional Indian Mango wood dresser (above), overlaid with hand-carved metal foil, reminiscent of the inlaid chest of drawers from an earlier post.

Oh My Goodness - We Are in LOVE!!!
Just this week we received an amazingly fun collection from British lingerie label Mint Siren. 
Mint Siren is a burlesque-inspired brand that is all about girly details, and is both extremely feminine and perhaps a bit edgy. It can best be described as Fifi Chachnil meets Dita von Teese style.
Faire Frou Frou is the FIRST and ONLY BOUTIQUE IN THE USA to represent this brand (we know other boutiques will snatch it up too after reading this!)!!! What an honor to introduce the states to this amazing label.

Siren is the creation of designer Josefine Wing (a bit of a burlesque gal herself). Her philosophy is to create flattering, sensual clothing with a retro flavor for the modern woman. Her brand is described as being "lavish and provocative; designed for ladies with a passion for extravagance. It's about having fun with your femininity".

Desperate Housewives update
If you caught the most recent episode of Desperate Housewives, then you may have noticed that Nicolette Sheridan's character was wearing a beautiful bustier almost the entire episode!
That gorgeous piece was none other than the Courtworth Mouche Tulle & Velvet Bustier from Faire Frou Frou. The last episode had a cliffhanger ending, which means we will see more of that bustier in the up-coming episode.

Just to follow-up on our previous post on Oprah's Favorite Things...
