Ruffles, Pleats and Folds

While reading our friend's blog over at Nearly Stylish we were excited to discover the work of Swedish designer Helena Hörstedt. Though these collections are a few years old, they seem to be right on the mark with the current trends we are seeing on the runway! The high-waisted briefs and the bodysuit were the major trends we saw at the NYC lingerie tradeshow we just attended, so be prepared to see more of this look for Fall 2010. By the way, the other huge lingerie trend we saw for Fall/Winter is navy blue and teal. Always something exciting on the horizon with fashion.
Our favorite image is the first one, which is yours?

Let the Countdown Begin!

The new and improved Faire Frou Frou is on its way! Construction began this week on our boutique's renovations with the expectation that we will re-open in late March (for real).
Not only are we completely remodeling our shop, but our online boutique is being completely re-built and should be unveiled in early April. Both projects are moving along well, and we are just so happy to see progress. We can't wait to share the "after" pictures with you because we know they will be fabulous.
As much as we love being online retailers, we miss our customers and our shop, and just can't wait to get back in business!
Please note that our online business remains open during this time, so feel free to get your frou-frou fix here.

{spring whites: bellevue hill house}

. . . even more than the spring whites and streams of light, open shelves and artful displays, textured rugs and moody artwork, adore most, the pretty and perfect touches of lavender . . .

{p.s.} also love the antique mirrors and open shelving in the powder room, which reminds a little of this perfume display

{leibowitz and mclachlan interior design & styling via desire to inspire}

{swedish inspiration: seaside}

. . . a million projects, appointments and e-mails and the week has been flying by at an astonishing rate -- very much looking forward to slowing things down over the weekend and even more so, for summer weekends filled with seaside dreams . . .

{shopping: vintage frame chalkboards}

. . . after discovering this beautiful vintage frame chalkboard in gosia's shop last year, have been rather obsessed with them and open gosia's weekly updates hoping to find another as lovely, until this morning, when this one appeared . . .

-- and was gone nearly immediately -- and so the search continues . . .

{fashion inspiration: tulle + runway reviews}

. . . the spring-like weather this past weekend and a perfectly wonderful late-winter thaw have filled the afternoons with wisps of balmy air, making things feel fresh and bright and filled with thoughts of light-as-air frothy little white dresses dreamed up from swaths of tulle . . .

{ a few more ny fashion week favourites:}
* more vb
* mulberry
* sophie theallet
* rodarte
* marchesa
* vera wang

{marchesa autumn/winter 2010 via a glamorous little side project}

{inspiration: gracefully gilded}

gold leaf. . . whether silver or paper or scalloped, what it's made of makes no difference, as long as it is swept with gold . . .

{

{flickers of gold + a hint of blush}

. . . always and especially lately drawn to that elusive shade of soft blush, a hue that hovers somewhere between whiskey and rose and has sometimes been called cinderella . . .

{p.s.} also, more tulle:
* ballgowns & wedding gowns
* works of art
* swedish wedding
* on lindsay & at marchesa
* on the beach

{a photographer, a designer + bohemian elegance}

. . . last week it was silver canisters in a copenhagen kitchen, and this week, inspiration comes in the form of a vintage cake tin and a glimpse of pinkish wallpaper . . .

. . . and as it turns out, the images above were taken by photographer deborah jaffe, whose e-mail arrived in perfect time with the discovery of white & gold cake tins and neisha crosland wallpaper, and who has shot for domino, martha stewart living and elle decoration uk:

. . . and the owner of the vintage tins, mismatched patterned ceramics, plush textiles and flea-market finds is california-based fashion designer erica tanov, whose bohemian romantic style can be seen in both her berkeley home and current clothing collection . . .

These beautiful photographs by Paolo Roversi (who we have a tendency to stalk) showcase something quite new to us; a pair of customized stockings by Philippe Matignon worn in a very unusual or 'modern' way! The stockings and the undies are both designed by Matignon, with many of the pictures showing the stockings worn over the skirts and dresses as well as over the shoes! We love it! Now this is truly underwear as outerwear at its most fashion-forward.
We actually own a pair of Spanx tights that can be worn over the heel of your shoes, but it doesn't come close to being as chic as this! Stylist Olivier Rizzo did an amazing job putting the look together for these images.
