{inspiration: summer afternoon}

"Summer afternoon -- Summer afternoon . . . the two most beautiful words in the English language."

~ Henry James

. . . can hardly contain the floods of happiness on brightly beautiful days and now that it's headstrong into summer, have been more hopelessly drawn than usual to beachside things: bare shoulders and tousled, sun-kissed strands,
shimmery golden skin and strappy high-heeled sandals -- and whether beachside or poolside -- pure languidness and sunlight all around . . .

{have a romantic weekend}

. . . soon it will be poolside with pomegranate blossom martinis, lunches on terraces and warm summer nights . . . but for now, a hopelessly romantic weekend with no plans in the world but for the ones we make up as we go along . . .

wishing you a beautiful weekend,
xo

{travel: verana, yalapa}

. . . deep conversation in a moody café of some impossibly exciting city somewhere in the world, but very rarely in resorts -- with the exception of a few moments here and there on the beaches of barbados, aruba, and the bahamas -- very much citified and adore the glamour and fast-paced adventures of undiscovered cities, that is, until happening upon verana, a luxury boutique hotel in yalapa, mexico, accessible only by boat and built on a hillside, with promises of waterfalls and romance, perfect seclusion and hot summer afternoons, crashing waves and starry nights . . .

{verana, yalapa, mexico, beautifully captured by one of p's favourite photographers, tyler gourley, on a recent trip}
