. . . when the chanel spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection graced the runways of paris, there was a collective gasp at the magic underwater kingdom created by karl lagerfeld -- there was lightness and seashells, but most astonishingly lovely, were the iridescent pearls glistening from chignons and following the curvatures of necks and down plunging backs . . .
. . . and after happening upon a few beautiful backstage photos of the show recently, a few golden hairpins laying about on the dressing table, and some pretty pearl beads were all the inspiration necessary . . .

{a new week | so much beauty & hello}
. . . more backstage photographs at elie saab have surfaced, and they are, to be certain, as exquisitely lovely as the last, and as such, impossible to resist -- the enchanting glimpses of little moments and astonishingly beautiful details are spectacularly lovely . . . and this week has already begun much busier than the last, and so, things may be a little sporadic here & there, but there are a million new and beautiful things to get lost in and to share, and so it goes . . .
hope you had a wonderful weekend, and that your week is off to a perfect start, —roséline xo

. . . perhaps it is the utter romance of it all, or the intoxicating concoction paillettes, lace and ruffles, but whatever the reason may be, am always awaiting, with wild anticipation, for the next elie saab collection, which never fails to enchant with its day dresses made for dreaming and evening gowns made for dancing in the moonlight, and never, ever fails to completely take one's breath away . . .

{at the office : chloé pre-fall 2012}
. . . pleated silk blouses and pretty pencil skirts, herringbone and shearling and scalloped trim -- few can match the elegant tailoring and perfect simplicity of chloé . . .

{hair inspiration | at the office : the wrapped ponytail}
. . . as you know, on busy days, often prefer elegantly no-nonsense hairstyles, such as a chignon, topknot, or classic ponytail, and this one, swept over and wrapped, is a sophisticated take on the original, and is perfectly polished for the office, or, when paired with a silk camisole trimmed in sequins, perfect for when the work is done . . .

. . . after the holidays, there is always a quiet lull, a little lapse in time, where the daydreams begin -- of the new year ahead, of fresh starts and unbroken promises, and the pastel daydreams of winter's quiet deference to the flimsy dresses and fluttery spring days that lay ahead . . .

. . . blouses strewn with intricately embroidered blossoms, billowy shorts and crisp jackets, pleated skirts, light knits and linens -- the chloé spring 2012 collection is filled with such prettiness, that despite the suddenly brisk mornings, a little wistful for the breeziness of springtime, or perhaps, even, far off and tropical places, when the first of the snow has fallen . . .

{new york 3: chadwick bell at the standard}
. . . still sorting through a million photographs, including ones [p took] of the amazing mountain lodge in the adirondacks [can not wait to show you], and came across these ones of the chadwick bell spring rtw 2012 collection presentation at the standard -- again, had forgotten a camera, having only an iphone, and despite dim lighting and swirling motion, the photographs came out rather lovely . . .

. . . and while we're on the topic of easing into the colder months, should like, very much, to wear white a little longer, at least until the leaves have fallen, and especially if it would mean arriving at the office in a stunning and rather elegant pantsuit, and spending the evening out in a ruffle-sleeved and billowy gown flecked in gold . . .

{new york 2: the lincoln center}
. . . tuesday morning was a dash across the street & down from the hotel to catch the first ever tory burch runway presentation -- the spring 2012 collection -- at the lincoln center . . .
. . . running quite late that morning, forgetting a camera and having only an iphone on hand, but as it turns out, was quite caught up with the show to take many shots, and so, a few glimpses here & there, collected from a few lovely places around the internets . . .
. . . the collection, a perfectly playful mix of layered textures and 1920's northwestern france-inspired swinging silhouettes, prints and patterns and beribboned shoes, may have made one a little wistful for summer's end, but very much looking forward to its return once again, if only to be frolicking about in pretty polka dots, sequined stripes, and raffia-ruffled pencils skirts . . .
{p.s.} as always, more after the jump & apologies if you have seen this collection elsewhere -- spent the remainder of last week in a cabin in the mountains, as you know, and only a few moments to update now xo

. . . if fashion is about looking forward, then phoebe philo may have done just that when she created this stunning collection for chloé; made in 2005, {when gemma ward still walked the runways}, for the 2006 spring ready-to-wear show in paris, the flirty a-line shapes, cut-work and pretty pleats, baroque patterns, ruffles, appliqués and florals {not to mention the lovely wedges} look as if they might have just stepped off the city sidewalks this morning . . .
