. . . more backstage photographs at elie saab have surfaced, and they are, to be certain, as exquisitely lovely as the last, and as such, impossible to resist -- the enchanting glimpses of little moments and astonishingly beautiful details are spectacularly lovely . . . and this week has already begun much busier than the last, and so, things may be a little sporadic here & there, but there are a million new and beautiful things to get lost in and to share, and so it goes . . .

. . . and of course, a glimpse behind the scenes, moments before the show -- elegantly wrapped ponytails and soft pinkish lips, fluttery eyelashes and a swirl to tulle and sequins . . .

. . . for last year's new year's eve festivities, it was a silvery lavender silk crepe dress, accessorized, of course, with a party tiara and hand-held sparklers; this year, sheer, lacy, and sprinkled with a million glittery paillettes may be just the thing . . .

. . . and today was one of those that was filled with all kinds of running round -- cocktail and holiday dresses at the dry cleaners, a stop at the hair salon, and even braving the shops filled with hapless, last-minute men . . . and there are still gifts to wrap and suitcases to pack, but for now, just a few quiet moments before it all begins . . .

. . . ordinarily, at the beginning of a new work week, it's tailored elegance in the form of pencil skirts and pantsuits, but truth be told, things have not felt ordinary for weeks now, since the holidays began, and have been exchanging ponytails for chignons and wearing sequins in the morning, even before the first cup of coffee, proving it really is the most wonderful time of year . . .

{hosting & being a house guest }

At many points throughout the year, we may welcome guests to stay in our homes as well as be guests in others’ homes, but particularly so with the holidays just around the corner.



And whether you will be living with friends or family during such time, it is always lovely to be both a generous and welcoming host, as well as a considerate guest.

. . . among all the many beautiful things to look forward to this holiday season, as if the candlelight and soirées, the sequined evening gowns and glasses of rosé were not enough -- now, [and perhaps most exciting of all], insanely glamorous & glittery eyes that will light up those festive nights . . .

. . . if you have been reading for a while, you undoubtedly know about about a longstanding love affair with elie saab, and especially, for said designer's penchant for sequins by daylight, dramatic draping, billowy fabrics, pleats and perfectly pretty party dresses, and while previous collections my have been about pale & pretty neutrals, the spring 2012 collection, while still awash in beautiful sequins and filled with glamour, is all about colour . . .

meetings // a stop by blue bottle for a quick latte & catbird in williamsburg, for a few pretty things, including a nallik by jean balk necklace [similar to this one], a stunning satomi kawakita bar ring, and a gold heart ring // a stop by brook farm general store in brooklyn [p picked up a waxed canvas book bag]

. . . and then, before we knew it, it was on the way out of the city to the utterly charming lakeview lodge in the mountains for the rest of the week . . .

. . . every once in a while, a collection comes along that is sheer perfection, and the kaufmanfranco fw11 collection, a stunning collaboration between designers ken kaufman and isaac franco, is just that -- with its sweeping camel coats and shimmery halter dresses, belted knits and sexy details, it is an altogether beautiful combination of rock & refined . . .

. . . this weekend was a gallery opening, {hair pinned up and a fluttery gold embroidered dress with a blouse sprinkled elegant french dots}, dinner reservations at a new alsatian restaurant to try the much talked about duck tarte flambée [duck confit, potato, onion, fromage blanc & gruyère] and house smoked trout salad, walks in the summer rain, and most of all, a few perfect moments of repose here & there . . .

. . . reminiscent of the complete and utter enchantment of the spring couture collection, . . . the elie saab fall couture collection, with its "diaphanous, fairy princess dresses [that] felt of this paris moment", were nothing short of magic . . .

. . . and if there was ever any doubt that summer is the best time ever, this weekend would certainly change all views to the contrary -- there was saturday brunch on a leafy terrace {toad in the hole with mozzarella and prosciutto, and an elderflower mimosa}, sunday brunch on a balcony terrace {eggs benedict with lemon hollandaise sauce on a freshly baked croissant, and a bellini}, a film {the trip -- have you seen?}, a blanket & books in the park and vanilla coconut cupcakes, and most of all, many, many moments drenched in sunlight . . .
