. . . was just remarking how the weekend positively flew by, as if a dream, one that was filled with pastel-coloured pastries and chocolat fleur de sel biscuits [every delectable bite all but gone now], and visits with the past, a wardrobe of lace-lined cardigans, striped gold sequined tops and coral cashmere sweaters, and now on this sun-drenched early-march monday, fast approaching the wrapping up stages of a few projects, and with the near arrival of spring comes many other wonderful things . . .

{hope you've had a beautiful weekend + a few lovely links}
. . . this weekend was a few luxurious moments to catch up on a little reading, afternoons in the warm late-winter sunshine and late lunches at old favourite places; there were also renovations—[contractors and things being built, a maddeningly fine dust falling over everything]—but also, the wonderful feeling of things accomplished and being steps closer to all the projects and plans that have begun some time ago; and there dinner at a new italian restaurant, glasses of montepulciano d'abruzzo and today, so much sunlight, it feels as if spring might arrive at any moment . . .
hope you've had [are having] a perfectly lovely [long] weekend, and that it's beautiful where you are, —roséline xo

{two lovely things | colour inspiration : shades of grey}
. . . the colour grey has appeared here many times, and whether amidst monograms & ruffles and chignons & chandeliers, intermingled with sequins & sunlight, or perfectly paired with petal pink, it is classic and warm, and always elegant, and there is something quite enchanting about its dusky hues, as with clouds on a bright february afternoon . . .

{take me away № 13 | a wintry escape}
An alabaster, wintry frost hardly seems like the warmest of welcomes, but the magic of the icy snow that glistens like diamonds layered upon diamonds, encompasses guests and the glow of an intoxicating combination of warm and cool lights, and the intrigue of the lines and carvings, without a doubt fades any perceptions of a cold reception.
And so it is, the gentle and hushed spell of winter has been cast, and for a short time, we see snow itself in a whole new and beautiful light . . .
{holiday style inspiration : donna karan autumn/winter 2011-12}
. . . and while on the topic of old-world glamour and romance, of holiday chignons and opera gloves, an utterly stunning collection that encompasses all these, and in luxuriously lovely shades of petal pink and dusky lilac, moonstone, silver shadow, pearl . . .

{holiday colour inspiration : warm & woodsy}
. . . gilded candelabras and champagne, velvet and sequins and the scent of pine cones -- a little holiday inspiration for this, the most wonderful time of the year . . .

. . . for this week, it's perfect mixes of soft & structured [a sleek blazer paired with billowy autumn whites, warm wools and tweeds with cool leather accents]; and classic & modern [delicate lace paired with a structured coat] . . . and whether with tousled waves or a classic ponytail, it's out the door with polish and perfect style . . .

{at home with : aerin lauder, aspen, colorado}
. . . always and eternally in love with summer, and while others are gliding gracefully down the mountain side, am normally the one sitting prettily by the fire, wrapped in cashmere and sipping brandy or hot chocolate with marshmallows, waiting for summer's return, and dreaming of warmer climates to see out the long wintry months ahead; of course, winter's chilly days would be no match if spent gazing out the enormous picture windows at the spectacular views outside of aerin lauder's aspen ski chalet among the silver birches, with its reclaimed cypress boards and wire-brushed oak, white walls and bed linens, cosy reading corners and floods and floods of light . . .
{p.s.} also interesting : the interior designer for the chalet was daniel romualdez, who also designed the tory burch boutique, on madison, featured here a few weeks ago -- interesting to compare the two vastly different styles

{décor inspiration: an artful arrangement}
. . . there is something about this room that brings one back, over and over again -- perhaps it is the warm floods of light, or the bright flowers and abstract art, or artful arrangement of lovely things -- or perhaps -- like summer white & leopard print, it has the feeling of transition, from warm summer days to crisp autumn nights . . .

{runway inspiration: sonia rykiel fall 2011 rtw}
. . . the sonia rykiel fall collection's perfect mix of tweed and satin, wraps and stoles, checks and tartan, along with elegantly lovely side chignons and red lipstick makes one long for the blustery green hills of the highlands and the deep, dark waters of inverness -- perhaps it's time for another beautiful trip to scotland . . .

{décor inspiration: tufted stripes & lavender silk}
. . . and it is nearly time again to stow away the light bed linens for cosy throws & warm duvets, and perhaps, for the warmer shades of coco & morning coffee, all perfectly intermingled with always elegant tufted stripes and ultra-glamorous lavender silk . . .
{p.s.} and at long last, a few lovely links
