. . . bright, sunny afternoons that seem to last a little longer each day, and thoughts are drifting, drifting to enchanting spring & summery things -- whimsical notecards with sweetly scalloped edges and palest pink shorts with layers light as air, french rattan baskets and pretty lacy parasols, sexy eyelet tops and romantic bed linens and soon, there will be picnics and early evenings at the beach . . .

{to sleep perchance to dream}
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
. . . one of the best things ever is to wake up at an insanely early hour and catch a flight to some wildly romantic, far-off place, even if it means a tiny cat-nap, mid-coffee in the airport lounge, moments before take-off . . .
{p.s.} and to p, thank you for being the best travelling companion in the world, and can not wait to make a million more memories on our next adventure . . .

{a new week & notes from the weekend}
. . . hello again! . . . unexpectedly called out of town and away since wednesday of last week, and while there may be a million things to catch up on, this morning was perfectly poached eggs with avocado & brie, and the scent of freshly ground coffee . . . and just a little note to say that things may be a little sporadic here for the next few days, with wednesday & thursday away, but still much, much to share . . .
hope you had a beautiful weekend & that your week is off to a most perfect start,

. . . have an inordinate amount of cardigans, from lightweight and summery to cozy and cashmere, hand-embroidered and trimmed in velvet ribbon to embellished with crystal fasteners or mother-of-pearl buttons; perfect for any season and any weather, and nearly always layered over bow blouses, silky camisoles, or the softest brushed cotton . . . but suddenly quite smitten with the idea of wearing them on their own, buttoned and belted in a simple and easy sophistication . . .

{monday, monday . . .}
. . . hello! a bright & crisp september morning of a new week, and if summer has flown by quickly, this month has taken on an astonishing pace and perhaps already a little too chilly for open-toed sandals and on the weekend, tall leather boots for the very first time . . . but despite changing temperatures, very much looking forward to mornings in cozy knits, and especially marigold-coloured knitted capelets . . .
hope your week is off to a perfect start,
xo

{two lovely things: cool august nights}
. . . summer is flying pass at a stunning pace and soon, the hot, sultry days will slip away into cool august nights, and quite adore the idea of mixing soft cashmere sweaters with the shortest skirts, or cozy cardigans with perfectly tailored city shorts . . .

The photos are supposed to be reminiscent of the Vargas pin-up girls, but it almost looks more like a gritty (and glam) expose of a Moulin Rouge dancer. Perhaps this is what the Vargas girls would look like if they were painted in 2010...
All I Can See is Lingerie
What's so funny is that when I first looked at these gorgeous gowns, all I could see is what great lingerie each piece would make. At the root of each piece is a beautiful bra, don't you agree? Actually, the first gown is quite obviously topped with a guepiere, but the other dresses have a definite lingerie-inspired bodice. Or perhaps I just have lingerie on the brain!
Lingerie aside, what a gorgeous setting for this photo shoot. Of course we would expect nothing less from the great Mario Testino!

Flipping through British Vogue and came across this pretty, pretty handbag covered in little leather petals from Reiss, perfect for this bright and sunny morning . . .
Couture Lingerie with Couture Gowns
Credits: Bra in top photo by What Katie Did, Panties by Rosamosario (we love Carlotta's work!), and hosiery by Falke. Shoes appear to be Christian Louboutin (because we own that same pair in black!). Photograph by Mario Testino, Vogue UK.
How could we not post these gorgeous images of Natalia Vodianova from UK Vogue?! Not only do we love the lingerie, but the pictures are just so beautiful (Natalia happens to be one of our favorite models) - that Dior Haute Couture pink gown is amazingly decadent.
Thank you to Fashion Pulse for inspiring this post!
{blue-blooded}
Despite being much more likely to paint a room a soft and pretty shade, feel inexplicably drawn to wonderfully bright and saturated shades of blue, and would love to visit just one home as daring and adventurous . . .
{pinkish lavender}
Currently and completely drawn to the lovely intermingling of pink and lavender . . .
