. . . it always seems, about this time of year, am ready to throw open the windows to the bright sunlight, in wild anticipation for springtime, and so, it is not difficult to imagine one being hopelessly drawn this perfectly romantic home, with its dusky lavender walls and pooling drapes of the same hue, its tufted linen chairs and carved settees, scalloped and gilded and mirrored accents, its florals and lucite may bring on bouts of spring fever at any moment . . .

Love is in the air, as they say, particularly as we are approaching what is, arguably, the most romantic month of the entire year: February. But romance is certainly not limited to a single day, or month for that matter, as the very words, love and romance inspire hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of sonnets and ballads, songs, paintings, and notes and declarations at any given time.

natalia-portman

For love is entirely a matter of the heart, apart from all that is grounded and tangible, and perhaps that is why great minds, for decades, have tried to capture its very essence.

love

And with the lifting of the winter's cold, afresh with the promise of Spring, we may welcome romance in all its forms, be it a quick expression of appreciation, written by hand, and left on the bedside table, or a dazzling bouquet of fragrant blossoms wrapped in tissue, or the simple joy of spending time walking, in the intimacy of fresh air, talking and dreaming together . . .

. . . it has been said that the best camera is the one you have with you, and with all the running around these days, and always so many lovely things to capture while traipsing about, often the only camera on hand is my iphone, which have come to rely on more and more for so many things, but especially the camera; and since joining instagram some time ago, have been having the loveliest time sharing little glimpses here and there, of everyday life, and have been asked, time and again, about the photographs in my stream -- how to split images into frames, how to get that dreamy, romantic sparkle, and so on -- and so, thought it might be fun to share a few favourite apps along the way . . .

“. . . almost everything – all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure – these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

. . . at this moment, there are perfume bottles scattered prettily about everywhere -- on the dresser, on the vanity, even on the desk, amongst pretty notepaper and fountain pens . . . and have always loved the way a simple tray, whether square or circular, gold or silver, can transform a few pretty bottles into a beautiful display; add venetian glass and deep emerald & onyx-hued marble, a bouquet of delicate peonies, and what could be lovelier?

{p.s.} another way to display perfume collections

. . . always a little wistful at this time of year, as each passing day drenched in warm, golden rays draws us a little closer to summer's inevitable end . . . and so, this weekend was spend in the sunlight, in deep conversations and in candlelight, and in the space where daydreams and reality intermingle . . . and there are a million amazing projects and exciting new ventures and sometimes far too easy to get caught up in the excitement, and for this reason and from this moment, shall stop for a moment to catch a breath and remember to hold on to the last golden rays for as long as possible. . .

happy monday! hope you had a summery, romantic weekend, and that it was beautiful where you are, roséline xo
