. . . and in other exciting news : there will be a wonderful new extension to the {take me away} series, after many lovely requests, and the first installment of which, will appear a little later today, but first, a glimpse of what is come, in the form of a tiny 15-room boutique hotel in the seventh arrondissement, that also happens to include a michelin-starred restaurant, and the most fun mix of colours & patterns, brought together by designer india mahdavi; besides beautiful powder rooms enveloped in carerra [and with aesop bath products, at that], there is a view of la tour eiffel just outside the window . . .

. . . and while on the topic of perfume bottles & lip gloss scattered about on desks and vanities, absolutely adore the idea of wicker baskets to keep everything in its place, from shoes in the entryway to books beside the bed . . .

. . . early sunday evening, on a day that began with a late start and a long brunch, leisurely conversations and many cups of coffee, memories of last night's dinner at a new favourite french restaurant {the third time in three weeks!}, stilling lingering -- tarte flambée traditional, with bacon, onion, fromage blanc, and gruyère, and a glass of côtes du rhône in the astonishing and silver moonlight -- and tonight, it's repainting everything a romantic and lacy white, old books & magazines and memories in boxes, and early tomorrow morning, the flower markets for a million roses, and last-minute arranging for guests arriving for the upcoming and last weeks of summertime . . .

. . . at this moment, writing to you from a beautiful hotel room in a beautiful city, moments before breakfast is set to arrive, unlike these unbearably chic hand-stitched luggage tags, which would have been perfect, but would not have arrived in time for wednesday morning's early flight; perhaps for the next, but for the moment, breakfast, and so, à bientôt . . .

. . . if you have been reading for a while, you will know about a certain and undying love for summer afternoon picnics, as well as for the fun accessories that go along with such romantic afternoons, and this picnic hamper from spanish fashion label loewe could not be lovelier -- gold-rimmed china and gilded flatware, all held together with perfect pink accents -- add a little champagne and a dashing companion, and the world falls away . . .

. . . while it may be a few months yet before blissful picnic weather, this special edition hermès kelly bag in summer wicker may brighten up blustery skies just a little . . .

. . . every year at this time, always and irresistibly drawn to dusky neutrals and rich textures -- exposed ceiling beams and washed floorboards, luxe velvet and stacks upon stacks of firewood, always perfectly paired, of course, with glittering chandeliers; and while always quite adored wicker in the summertime, had not imagined how lovely wicker ottomans and armchairs could be in the colder months, next to fireplaces and perfect for apéritifs on chilly & cozy november nights . . .

. . . nearly time again for transitions, and while the closets are still filled with white and light-as-air summer dresses and strappy sandals, and the heavy blankets are still tucked away, soon there will be soft sweaters and boyfriend blazers -- but for now, still in in love with summer wicker, carefully woven market bags beneath mirrored tables and shell chandeliers in the entryway, warm and rustic dining chairs for sunday brunch, or perfectly stylish baskets and cases with leather fasteners alongside a single ruffled and pooling panel -- and when it's time, pair wicker with stacks of freshly cut wood or vintage wool and mohair blankets to welcome the blustery days of autumn . . .
