. . . and in other exciting news : there will be a wonderful new extension to the {take me away} series, after many lovely requests, and the first installment of which, will appear a little later today, but first, a glimpse of what is come, in the form of a tiny 15-room boutique hotel in the seventh arrondissement, that also happens to include a michelin-starred restaurant, and the most fun mix of colours & patterns, brought together by designer india mahdavi; besides beautiful powder rooms enveloped in carerra [and with aesop bath products, at that], there is a view of la tour eiffel just outside the window . . .

{at the office | lookbook : secret squirrel winter 12}
. . . have always adored secret squirrel's 'quiet luxury and modern unassuming style', and the new winter 12 collection, art class, is as pretty as ever, with fun geometric patterns, sexy short trenches and shades of heather grey, blush and coral, that will make mornings before the office a perfect breeze . . .

{photography | still-intimate-life by inês nepomuceno}
. . . there is something quite mesmerising about the still life photographs of inês nepomuceno — taken in a studio with an analog camera, a series of photographs of her daily meals, "the banality of this food was transformed by the medium" into a beautiful play of light & shadow, resulting in a painterly quality that is strikingly lovely . . .

{style inspiration: noir & blanc}
. . . a rainy, rainy tuesday with still much to do, but happily, a houndstooth bow blouse and a high-waisted pencil skirt keeps things polished [& far from dreary] and brighten up the workday -- that, and of course, a break for coffee and a few macarons . . .
{p.s.} this week's {take me away} still to come x

{places: the greenbrier hotel, west virginia}
. . . and around here, a terrible weakness for perfectly decorated hotels, and the greenbrier most certainly fits into the category -- the intoxicating intermingling of vibrant colours and patterns, leaves and florals and elegant drapery, gilded flourishes and enchanting chandeliers are just the thing for these overcast autumn days . . .

{design: new covers by coralie bickford-smith}
. . . may always love the gilded, art-deco inspired f. scott fitzgerald covers best, but the new designs by coralie bickford-smith for the penguin hardback classics series are every bit as chic and ultra-stylish with their pared-down, graphic appeal, and of the many new designs, favourites include the elegant gold chains of jane austen's mansfield park and the pretty horses of charles dickens' hard times . . .

{all in a day's work & a quick hello}
. . . a very quick hello on one of those days where everything seems to be getting away -- there are deadlines and amazingly long to-do lists, arrangements and appointments, and the emails have been piling up for days, and so, it's coffee and back to work . . .
hope your week is off to a perfect start,
roséline xo

{at the office: gilded mirrors & zebra print}
. . . without fail, every year, at this time, there is an extra fondness for layers, whether soft cardigans and long cashmere scarves out the door, or at home and in the office, where gilded glass, deep silk and sophisticated zebra print intermingle as if in a swirl of autumn splendor . . .

{new york 1: 797 madison avenue}
. . . last week's very quick trip to nyc was filled with lunch dates and shows, events and soirées, and with a million photographs and so much to tell you, perhaps best to break things up into a few posts so as not to overwhelm . . . first stop was very early last monday morning: mimosas to celebrate the opening of the new flagship tory burch boutique on 797 madison avenue . . .
. . . and there were beautiful brass staircases against rich hardwood floors, floral wallpaper and patterned carpets . . .
. . . and after many emails, skype chats, and nearly a year of her writing for {this is glamorous}, it was wonderful to finally meet laily, in person, and on snow leopard patterned floor coverings . . .

{at the shops: loom, australia}
. . . with recent projects, and after a fascinating tour of a rug manufacturing facility, have been thinking quite a bit lately about how things are made, about the of the time and care that goes into well-designed and well-crafted things, and happened upon these beautiful rugs by victoria-based loom -- a of colours, patterns and textures, each piece is a work of art . . .

{décor inspiration: patterns & texures}
. . . only a few moments this morning before brunch, to flip through the latest issue of lonny, and instantly fell for the chicago home of designer lauren gold; and while a little surprised to be drawn to such deep shades at a time of year when the world feels awash with sunlight, could hardly tear away from the richness of the patterns and textures -- leopard print and tufted velvet, vintage glass and high gloss black, leather and gold . . .

{décor inspiration: bedside tables & bouquets}
. . . would, perhaps, change the paisley to crisp, white linens, but adore the charming plaid floor and can hardly tear away from the vibrantly painted bedside table and perfect bouquet of roses . . .
{p.s.} wouldn't this room be lovely in a quaint countryside cottage?

{décor inspiration: patterns & textures}
. . . there is something so wonderfully absorbing about this room -- the luxuriously rich colours and mix of patterns & textures -- perhaps it is the royal blue silk settee and elegant leopard print walls, the dazzling chandelier and bits of gold, the dusky streams of light and beautifully set table for two, or perhaps is is a combination of all these things . . .
