. . . if you have been reading for a while, you will know about a mad love for storage on display, and whether shoes or a perfume collection, all the pretty little things about the house are easily transformed into works of art, when displayed in a beautiful glass cabinet . . .

{storage inspiration: time-worn wood & glass}
{décor inspiration: concrete & gold}
. . . can never resist a perfect juxtaposition -- old & new, high & low, vintage & modern, rock & refined -- the last of which, applies literally to this utterly stunning bathroom, with its modern concrete walls and rustic pebble-tiled floor, perfectly set against glamorous golden fixtures and palest pink . . .
{image: côté maison via french by design & my paradissi}
{décor inspiration: palest pink & seashells}
. . . crown moulding and crown canopies, topiaries and seashell chandeliers, palest pink & time-worn treasures in a french cottage that was most positively made for afternoon romance . . .
{p.s.} a very special thank you to sarah at haute design for so thoughtfully sending along these lovely images
m o r e s e a s h e l l s & s e a s h e l l c h a n d e l i e r s:
* saltwater breezes
* the lure of the ocean
* an oceanside cottage
* crisp linens & scalloped edges
* elegant florals
* the south of france
* moments of repose
* palest pink & leopard print
* only sweet dreams

{décor inspiration: patterns & texures}
. . . only a few moments this morning before brunch, to flip through the latest issue of lonny, and instantly fell for the chicago home of designer lauren gold; and while a little surprised to be drawn to such deep shades at a time of year when the world feels awash with sunlight, could hardly tear away from the richness of the patterns and textures -- leopard print and tufted velvet, vintage glass and high gloss black, leather and gold . . .

{two lovely things: on display}
. . . currently, favourite pairs of sequined heels and golden strappy summer sandals are displayed in a glass cabinet {much like this one}, but after happening upon martha stewart living decorating editor, rebecca robertson's, picture rails as shoe racks, now dreaming up entire dressing rooms with walls lined in beautiful shoes . . .
{p.s.} also adore the idea of using beveled mirrors and a floating shelf to create an entryway console
recent two lovely things:
* ruggedly refined
* books & blossoms
* gilded chalkboards & garden sheds
* green & white
* open shelves & elegant black
* bar carts & blossoms
* books & bouquets
* a paris apartment & hermès
* secret gardens & on the terrace

{décor inspiration: 70's brass étagère}
. . . always exceptionally fond of sophisticated seventies style on the runways, but had never considered it at home until happening upon this beautiful brass étagère, that works as perfectly as a bar area for pimm's and glassware in the kitchen {above, before & top, after}, or as ingenious storage books and things in the office . . .
{images, brass étagères, both from the homes of bloggers: one | two | three}
{two lovely things: let's celebrate}
{two lovely things:} in a crisp white cabinet alongside glasses, china, and a crystal candelabra, or atop an ultra-modern & silver steel shelf, whether mixed or exclusively champagne, always lovely to have a place for summertime entertaining . . .
{also:} more ideas here & here & here
{p.s.} and while we're on the topic of champagne, had mentioned on twitter the other day that p had gone out last week to pick up a bottle, and returned {along with the champagne} with an ipad -- how lovely it is to view this site on it, and also looking forward to uploading favourite photographs, books, and the new gourmet magazine when it comes out

{at home with: freunde von freunden}
{home of kirsten hermann, stylist & gallerist}
. . . my wonderful friend felicity always sends along the most amazing things, and freunde von freunden is one of them: a berlin-based selby-esque {perhaps a little more gritty & artsy} project by german design agency no more sleep, that documents the agency's friends, partners and creative people around berlin in their living or workspace; overflowing with visual details, the shots are glimpses that feel like an exclusive look behind the scenes . . .{home of helena kapidzic, make-up artist}
{images: freunde von freunden via felicity & seesaw designs}
{storage inspiration: shoes}
. . . a certain fondness for shoes means always searching for creative places to keep an ever-growing collection and this rustically elegant and perfectly organized linen and shelf arrangement would make every morning feel like a visit to the shops . . .
{p.s.} a perfect afternoon

{spring whites: bellevue hill house}
. . . even more than the spring whites and streams of light, open shelves and artful displays, textured rugs and moody artwork, adore most, the pretty and perfect touches of lavender . . .
{p.s.} also love the antique mirrors and open shelving in the powder room, which reminds a little of this perfume display
