. . . running a little behind today due to an early morning photo shoot, but upcoming are a few fun things, including this week's {take me away}, and a very lovely how-to, but first, coffee and two lovely things . . .

With the promise of spring just around the corner, can not help but daydream of the perfect beauty of blossoming rose gardens and picnics in wildflower fields, afternoon teas on the terrace, overflowing with wisteria and nearly every corner of the house filled with favourite blooms . . .

. . . and it has been far too long since have discovered a new blog so filled with inspiration, it is impossible not to fall completely into page after page, hotel rooms and crashing waves, roses and Cannes, chandeliers and flower markets, and sunlight on a saturday morning . . .

. . . without fail, every year, at this time, there is an extra fondness for layers, whether soft cardigans and long cashmere scarves out the door, or at home and in the office, where gilded glass, deep silk and sophisticated zebra print intermingle as if in a swirl of autumn splendor . . .

. . . at this moment, there are perfume bottles scattered prettily about everywhere -- on the dresser, on the vanity, even on the desk, amongst pretty notepaper and fountain pens . . . and have always loved the way a simple tray, whether square or circular, gold or silver, can transform a few pretty bottles into a beautiful display; add venetian glass and deep emerald & onyx-hued marble, a bouquet of delicate peonies, and what could be lovelier?

. . . while not quite ready to let go of the last of the summer whites just yet, somehow, in august's last fleeting moments, always and inescapably drawn to vibrant and tumultuous shades of orange . . .

. . . always and forever photographing little snippets of life -- beautiful vignettes and new french desserts, glimmering chandeliers on warm summer nights, captured in memory and forever in time, and so, completely fell in love with the concept behind creative director, jane cameron's, blog, which is filled with these little magazine moments . . .

. . . early sunday evening, on a day that began with a late start and a long brunch, leisurely conversations and many cups of coffee, memories of last night's dinner at a new favourite french restaurant {the third time in three weeks!}, stilling lingering -- tarte flambée traditional, with bacon, onion, fromage blanc, and gruyère, and a glass of côtes du rhône in the astonishing and silver moonlight -- and tonight, it's repainting everything a romantic and lacy white, old books & magazines and memories in boxes, and early tomorrow morning, the flower markets for a million roses, and last-minute arranging for guests arriving for the upcoming and last weeks of summertime . . .

. . . late summer, and have been spending absolutely every single possible moment outdoors, in the park and at the beach, but mostly dinners on the terrace on these breezy august nights . . .

Colour affects emotions, design, art, and trends; it dictates our fashion, changes our mood and it epitomizes so many, many things without the need for words. Ruby red lipstick can be worn to signify ardent love and desire; pink blush conjures romantic rendezvous, and a bouquet of yellow daffodils can be given to symbolize friendship . . .



. . . lavender candles in a powder room can symbolize femininity, grace and elegance; a black evening gown that flows in the moonlight can represent sophistication and style, and the colour of a string of heirloom pearls worn on a wedding day is said to represent marriage.

Colour has its own language and painters are its masters.



Michelle Armas, an Atlanta-based artist, doesn’t simply paint with colours, she fuses colours with thoughts, blending magic to canvas -- each whimsical brushstroke takes your mind away to almost a heightened state of being and awareness, as you follow the light she creates through colour in paintings that have the power to light up a room.
