GLAMOUR PHOTOGRAFY

. . . if for some reason, this maximalist heart were to live in an ultra-modern & minimalist space, it would be, perhaps, in this greenwich village pied à terre, for the wonderful bits of gold artfully scattered about -- the gilded frames and hanging pendants, and most of all, the astonishingly spectacular coffee table, [a work of art] -- would make it all worthwhile . . .









{p.s.} although must confess, quite certain would last not two minutes in the kitchen, before covering the walls in art, adding more gold, and, many, many bouquets of roses in crystal vases . . .

. . . can never resist a perfect juxtaposition -- old & new, high & low, vintage & modern, rock & refined -- the last of which, applies literally to this utterly stunning bathroom, with its modern concrete walls and rustic pebble-tiled floor, perfectly set against glamorous golden fixtures and palest pink . . .

. . . only a few moments this morning before brunch, to flip through the latest issue of lonny, and instantly fell for the chicago home of designer lauren gold; and while a little surprised to be drawn to such deep shades at a time of year when the world feels awash with sunlight, could hardly tear away from the richness of the patterns and textures -- leopard print and tufted velvet, vintage glass and high gloss black, leather and gold . . .

. . . always exceptionally fond of sophisticated seventies style on the runways, but had never considered it at home until happening upon this beautiful brass étagère, that works as perfectly as a bar area for pimm's and glassware in the kitchen {above, before & top, after}, or as ingenious storage books and things in the office . . .

. . . was one of those perfect weekends drenched in summer sun and leisurely brunches, wild roses and chandeliers against blue skies, brie and paté and glasses of mimosas, an afternoon at the the antique markets, lingering between cake stands and milk glass, and now, a new week and there are cases to pack and flights to catch, a million things to do before in between . . .

. . . while lately have been favouring wallpapered cabinets, {especially in romantic spring florals}, had forgotten how classically beautiful shades of onyx and midnight can be for showcasing stacks of beautiful books and antiques, or a collection of everyday dishware and fine china, and adore how strikingly lovely the palest pink of the roses and stacks of gold-rimmed teacups look against such a background . . .

. . . shall always adore katie lee's ultra-chic four-story west village townhouse, famously decorated by nate berkus a million years ago, in 2006; first seen in domino magazine and still an all-time favourite, the 4000 sq ft home, which includes 3/4 bedrooms, 4 baths, 4 fireplaces, an elevator, a landscaped garden, matchbooked marble detailing, and antiqued gold-leafing, is now on the market, and it is always interesting to compare how the real estate listing shots, often taken wide angles, differ from the rich, more detailed shots published in magazines; and so, a glimpse . . .
