{so kiss me on this cold december night}

winter-wonderland
cabin1

. . . and if you have been reading for a while, you may remember our stay at a log cabin in the mountains, and so, was understandably delighted to happen upon this similarly designed mountain retreat -- the beamed ceilings and warm, time-worn wood, the antique and patterned rugs and grand stone fire places, all intermingled alongside tartan and plaid and pooling drapes, soft, caramel-coloured leather and velvet the shade of overcast skies, and glittery glass chandeliers, creating a perfect juxtaposition of town & country, rustic & refined . . .

. . . books have been happily taking over since the beginning and there have been many, many {rather ambitious} attempts to corral the madness -- overflowing coffee tables and custom bookcases, built-ins and desk tops -- but not until happening upon this pale & pretty display of titles, has there been anything so perfectly chic . . .

. . . while lately have been favouring wallpapered cabinets, {especially in romantic spring florals}, had forgotten how classically beautiful shades of onyx and midnight can be for showcasing stacks of beautiful books and antiques, or a collection of everyday dishware and fine china, and adore how strikingly lovely the palest pink of the roses and stacks of gold-rimmed teacups look against such a background . . .

{p.s.} more black shelving

. . . my wonderful friend felicity always sends along the most amazing things, and freunde von freunden is one of them: a berlin-based selby-esque {perhaps a little more gritty & artsy} project by german design agency no more sleep, that documents the agency's friends, partners and creative people around berlin in their living or workspace; overflowing with visual details, the shots are glimpses that feel like an exclusive look behind the scenes . . .

{two lovely things: light & lavender}

{two lovely things:} the most utterly perfect and palest shade of pinkish lavender in a warm and dusky reading corner . . . and tiers of extravagant chocolate truffles dusted with flourishes of cocoa perfect for a daydreamy tuesday morning . . .

{p.s.} recent two lovely things:
* champagne & lace
* smokey violet & chevron
* warm & woodsy
* inspiration boards

. . . hello! an overcast thursday afternoon and how the week has flown, but bright days await, and even brighter dreams & plans . . . dashing out the door, but leaving you with a few favourites from the latest issue of lonny . . .

hope you're having a wonderful week,

{a farewell to wintery things}

. . . and after all the sunny and sun-drenched days, thoughts of wintry things are banished and it's farewell to cozy mohair blankets, tucked away for light and breezy linens, the fallen ashes of fireplaces cleared away for a fresh bouquet or an arrangement of candles for romantic summer nights, or, for a little adventure and all-out glamour, charmingly rustic wood alongside a dazzling mirror ball . . .

{styling inspiration: time-worn nostalgia}

. . . charming styling by japanese design studio, jamo associates, with the same wonderful, time-worn nostalgia as sibella court -- bits and pieces and memories from travels, tiny vases and slants of light, but drawn most of all to the vintage cadbury glass case, perfect for storing and displaying old and favourite books . . .
