. . . first came across this centuries-old home in normandy last november, and immediately fell head over heels, and so, was utterly thrilled to happen across it again, in the current issue of veranda; and while one is impossibly drawn to the allure of the leopard silk velvet canapé, there are still a myriad of beautiful things to captivate -- the floors, [always, the floors], the gilded picture frames and cashmere throws, the antique bergères in stroheim suede, the grand chandeliers and palest shades of gray, and most of all, that perfect mix of relaxed & refined . . .

{décor inspiration: the return of romance}
" I think sophistication and elegance always last. For me, if I go into a direction that feels sexy or more “trendy” I try and infuse a feeling of sophistication to ensure classic style. For me this achieved through rich fabrics (silk, velvet, cashmere, boucle) great art (usually figurative and abstract paintings) and sculpture."
. . . and on this bright and chilly mid-january day, hopelessly drawn to romance of layers upon layers of luxurious and warm textures -- silk canopies and corduroy bolsters and faux fur throws, and velvet sofas intermingled with soft light and chandelier crystals and, always, always, bits of gold . . .

{a new week, a new month, and a brand new year}
. . . the first week of this new year has already been a spectacular flurry of activity, beginning with a new tiffany blue & gold-leafed daybook waiting to be filled, and on the eve of new year's day, a meeting in a hotel lobby amidst the still twinkling post-holiday fairy lights, to plot and to plan and to dream, and there is so much to tell you, including, currently, two enormously exciting projects in the works, a wedding in paris in june, and still to come, the grandest adventure of all, that may just change everything -- and so, it is wild anticipation that we begin the second week of this new year . . .

{décor inspiration: herringbone & marble, malmö, sweden}
. . . from stockhom to malmö, and intoxicating mix of fireplaces and french doors, intermingled with perfectly ornate ceilings, crown molding and breathtaking floods of light, gilded mirrors from paris, and washed herringbone floors, time-worn wood, marble, and bits of gold . . .
{the home of nina bergsten, photography by marcus lawett for residence via today you inspired me}
{décor inspiration: bits of gold}
. . . if for some reason, this maximalist heart were to live in an ultra-modern & minimalist space, it would be, perhaps, in this greenwich village pied à terre, for the wonderful bits of gold artfully scattered about -- the gilded frames and hanging pendants, and most of all, the astonishingly spectacular coffee table, [a work of art] -- would make it all worthwhile . . .
{p.s.} although must confess, quite certain would last not two minutes in the kitchen, before covering the walls in art, adding more gold, and, many, many bouquets of roses in crystal vases . . .

{décor inspiration: leopard print & winter white}
. . . and while on the topic of leopard print & bright winter whites, positively enchanted with the romantic and dusky light flooding through this home in buenos aires, and, of course, the leopard print against white walls and floor-grazing draperies, intoxicatingly intermingled with warm wood, velvet and florals . . .

{happy autumn + have a beautiful weekend}
. . . and it would seem that september whirled by more quickly than the rest, and suddenly, it is autumn, and as promised, have been adding dashes of white, here & there, for just a few moments longer, at least until the leaves begin to fall, [although must confess, beginning to fall in love with the thought of cosy sweaters and romantic nights by the fire], and while things may have been happily filled with busy-ness the past few weeks, this weekend has been a perfect change of pace, filled with sunshine and saturday markets, and today, perhaps brunch, the flower markets and a walk along the water . . .
hope you're having a magical autumn weekend, and that it's beautiful where you are, roséline xo

{spring things: closet organization}
. . . must confess, have been avoiding re-organising the closets for spring & summertime, for it is rather a monumental, somewhat overwhelming task, and shoes seem to be overtaking the place, making mornings quite a flurry, and so, a little inspiration before it begins . . .

{two lovely things: a paris apartment & hermès}
. . . how we arrived at thursday {or mid-april, for that matter}, is an utter mystery, but the spring sun has been shining and have you ever had amazingly enormous plans that hinged on the completion of a million smaller ones? . . . and in a few months' time, the beginning of one of the grandest adventures, and despite excitement uncontained for the things to come, for now, there are to-do lists and always emails, handwritten thank you notes and long lost friends to be reacquainted with -- and so -- a few moments away to get caught up, leaving you with these two very lovely things . . .
hope you're having a stunningly beautiful week so far,

{on the market: grand victorian, australia}
. . . and on the topic of wool tartan dresses and caramel-coloured suede, early autumn also invokes wonderful thoughts of softly glowing fireplaces and luxurious faux fur throws, the romance of candlelight and evenings spent cozy at home, enveloped in the loveliest things such as in this grand victorian home, filled with marble tables and graceful archways, intricately carved wood mirrors and tufted chaises, and best of all, that inexplicably nostalgic and always welcoming warm & woodsy feeling . . .
