GLAMOUR PHOTOGRAFY

. . . the place is in a state of disarray, for, instead of spring cleaning, it's winter cleaning, for, as you know, currently in the midst of some very exciting things that involve a bit of upheaval, and so, this weekend is red wine in cut crystal glasses, films and flower shops and photographs, a romantic dusting of snow on these [cosy] chilly nights, and love, love, love . . .

. . . while there is undoubtedly a noticeable crispness in the late-september air, the sun still shines brightly and the afternoons are still warm; at home, while quite adore cosy nights in front of the fire, not nearly ready to stow away white bed linens, and so, perhaps best to take things slowly, mixing late-summer and early-autumn in patterns and textures like lace and leopard print . . .

. . . has been one of those weeks, where, despite having a million things to do, thoughts could not help but wander to these last few weeks of summer, and with family to arrive from paris for a few weeks, painting & decorating projects, design work & interviews, it's lovely, lovely to have the weekend to {hopefully} find a few moments to spend in the early-august sun . . .

. . . had a moment to flip through the new summer issue of sweet paul over coffee this morning, and while it was filled with lovely things, fell absolutely in love with the feature on natural color, with a romantic cardigan bathed in pomegranate juice, a pretty little tote dipped in red cabbage and turmeric, and the most beautiful pillow shams the colour of blackberries . . .

. . . one of the guestrooms in p's parents' home has the most luxuriously lovely floral bedding trimmed in yards and yards of ruffles, and always seems to be enveloped in a perfect slant of dusky sunlight; and ever since the waking up in such loveliness the very first morning, have had a new-found fondness for ruffles, whether floral, or enchantingly dreamed up in the most breathtaking lace . . .

. . . bright, sunny afternoons that seem to last a little longer each day, and thoughts are drifting, drifting to enchanting spring & summery things -- whimsical notecards with sweetly scalloped edges and palest pink shorts with layers light as air, french rattan baskets and pretty lacy parasols, sexy eyelet tops and romantic bed linens and soon, there will be picnics and early evenings at the beach . . .

. . . hello! feels like forever since we last spoke -- yesterday was one of those days with meetings & appointments, and afterward, a million errands, drycleaners and bank, checking flights and making plans, but also one that was positivity filled with beautiful surprises -- cake and cookies and the kindness of strangers, and moments of pure brightness perfect for january skies . . .

. . . and after all the magnificent madness of snow & mistletoe, happily taking a few beautiful moments to linger in the luxurious lull before new year's, spending time, alone together, slowing down the days {just a little}, and dreaming up nights draped in candlelight . . .

. . . have always held a special fondness for velvet, and especially tufted velvet, {and anything tufted, really}, and as the bright late-autumn days drift slowly into long winter nights, there is a longing for decadently warm and elegantly luxurious textures -- golden velvet against driftwood and snow-white faux fur beautifully intermingled with crystal droplets falling from silver candelabras and glittering as shooting stars on a crisp november night . . .

. . . the weekend began with a cocktail called starlight, dinner for two and peach, olive oil & rosemary upside down cake with vanilla ice cream & poached farm peaches & pistachio for dessert, a decadently late and leisurely saturday morning, chandeliers at nightfall and a charming local pub, the impossible romance of the rain against the window panes, and most of all, the thought that it has only just begun . . .

. . . afternoons are still wonderfully bright, but evenings are beginning to arrive earlier, and with them, a surprising briskness to unaccustomed summer skin, and already this past weekend, faux fur stoles and soft cashmere scarves and the longing for luxuriously warm textures, velvet and tweed and satin-trimmed coverlets -- and even warmer hues and tones, featherstone and champagne and deliriously lovely shades of dusky taupe . . .
