Christopher Pethick

Christopher Pethick was born in Plymouth, England in 1984, and spent his early years there before moving to the Dartmoor village of Mary Tavy in 1991. On leaving school in 2000 he studied 3D Design at Plymouth College of Art and Design, and in the meantime continued to follow other interests, which included painting, graphic design and photography. He gained a few notable commissions at this time, including one from the psychic spoon bender, Uri Geller, which was a 2m x 3m oil on canvas painting of Geller’s late friend and music legend Michael Jackson standing on a plinth in a surreal landscape.
Whilst an undergraduate at Salisbury College, Wiltshire, where he earned a BA (Hons) Degree in PhotoMedia, Chris won the Grand Prize in Panasonic’s Photographer of the Year 06, and the PIEA PMA Grand First Prize for the Colleges and Universities category 07 where he was the only European entry out of 6,000 entries. More recently, he was awarded the title of, Illustrative and Pictorial Photographer of the Year at the 2008 British Professional Photography awards in Newcastle.
