Advertising Photography by Jan Willem Scholten

Jan Willem Scholten

Jan Willem Scholten was born and raised in a little village called Maasland, in the Netherlands. With a father as a photographer, his interest in photography started at a very young age. His first camera was a 6 x 6 Rolleiflex, shooting black and white film. After attending and passing Cum Laude, the Royal Academy for Arts in the Haque, Netherlands, Jan Willem commenced assisting various advertising photographers in Amsterdam for a period of 5 years. One of them was Boudewijn Smit. Inspired by great English names like John Claridge and Duncan Sim, Jan Willem started to develop his own style of photography which developed very much from a fondness for landscape & location work.
